London Orbital
Well, I weakened. We'll be over at Orbital for Saturday and Sunday, a literally flying visit.

On other business: Torchwood: it really is cobblers, isn't it? Not even two-thirds the way through series 2 and it's already getting strangled by its own story arc.

I think there's a subliminal reason why I recorded this week's and the BBC3 'preview' next week's last night. Waited for the reviews. Do not want to watch the eps.

Was scanning down the Orbital membership list and saw "Ian McDonald" - hoped it might be THE Ian McDonald (rather than just A Ian McDonald). Glad to have it confirmed.

(Also saw an Ian Watson - A or THE (Book of the River etc) do we think? There is A Stephen King on that list, presuming that's not THE Stephen King. Also hope it's not Neil X Gaiman the boiler engineer and Charles Z Stross the insurance salesman.)

This is the first con for me and my better half after coming out of the sf closet. Excuse me if I come up to you and gush if I see you on Sunday.

Oh yes, and Torchwood is truly cobblers - why do they have to erase people's memories when they discover Torchwood, but at the same time go everywhere in a big car with "Torchwood" written along the side, shouting "We're Torchwood!"?

although the "travelling show escapes from old film" story was quite spooky for the first 15 minutes... Can't go wrong with evil ringmasters in top hats...
